Myth #1

Everyone Thinks It's a Desert

The Reality

We have mild winters and fabulous summers. We like it hot, and we know how to keep cool with the finest Splash Pads and Water Parks, including Frisco Commons, J.R. Newman Park, or Frisco’s Outdoor Water Park. McKinney has the Apex Center. Plano offers the Jack Carter Pool where you can surf, rock climb, or just chill in the lazy river. Or just get your fix at The Texas Pool with their historic 168,000-gallon saltwater pool shaped like the state!

Myth #2

We All Dress Like Cowboys

The Reality

There are a few reasons why Frisco is called Sports City USA and rated as the Top Place to Raise an Athlete. This progressive, sports-driven city is home to The Star District, a 91-acre mixed-use campus, home to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice facility, and home to the new PGA headquarters.

But if the cowboy look isn’t your bag, there’s tons of great boutique shopping in Frisco, including the Charlotte Jones Collection, Blue Door Boutique, or Distinctively Hers. In addition, downtown McKinney is flooded with world-class shops, including Landry Kate and Ettiene Market that offer irresistible home goods, or the lovely lifestyle boutique Dawson + Claire in Downtown Prosper.

We All Live On Ranches

The Reality

While it’s tough not to conjure up a ranch-style image, North Texas proudly boasts an assortment of lofts, high-rise buildings, townhouses, craftsman homes, and rolling estate properties. Big houses, low prices. That’s what you can come to expect when shopping for North Texas real estate.

Myth #4

You Have To Live All The Way Downtown

The Reality

Why venture to the city when you have everything you want in the suburbs? Frisco’s culinary scene is diverse and sophisticated, with hidden gems like Hutchins BBQ and Tender Smokehouse that boast the finest BBQ you will ever find.

Get your brunch on with The Aussie Grind or Up Inspired Kitchen. Looking for a cozy coffee spot to decompress? Downtown McKinney showcases Layered, Patina Green, and Harvest, one of the best farm-to-table restaurants. There’s the award-winning handmade coffee roaster Summer Moon in Frisco. Detour Doughnuts have an Instagram page that is just as delicious as their doughnuts, and (takes a deep breath) Honeylu’s coffee shop in Prosper and McKinney are the best dog-friendly gem that serves out of this world coffee and food.

The Suburbs Are Dead At Night

The Reality

Whoever said the suburbs are boring hasn’t explored our nightlife. Cut up the dance floor at Memphis Nightclub or enjoy an elegant evening at J. Theodore Restaurant and Bar. Don’t sleep on Legacy West in Plano with the upscale nightclub VNYL or Cotton Gin Cafe. The Yard and The Garage in Historic Downtown McKinney have the best craft cocktails, or just unwind at the super chill Landon Winery with live music, art classes, and weekend festivals. The suburbs seriously have it all!

Everybody Says "Ya'll"

The Reality

Okay, maybe this one is kind of true! But give yourself a month, and you 1000% will be saying it too!
